Antwerp – “The Capital of Cool”
Besides the many historical buildings that are reminiscent of the city's heyday in the 16th century, Antwerp boasts a lively shopping scene. Reading about Antwerp we learned it was described as the "capital of cool" and we had a fun filled day there!
We shopped along the boutiques that seemed to go on forever on cobbled lanes. We knew about Antwerp's title as the biggest diamond centre in the world, however, we did not come home with any new bling this trip!
One of the other claims to fame for the city i
s that it was the home of Paul Rubens, one of Europe’s well known artists. Apparently tourists can visit his former studio or one of the many churches and museums in the city to see his acclaimed works.
Antwerp was the last stop in our tour of Belgium and it was a great way to end our visit!
